n Cheongju, the 1004 Golf Academy has opened, led by
Iprofessional golfer Marina Choi (Marina Choi Hojeong), who
leverages her experience in the US LPGA and college golf to mentor
future golfers.
Marina Choi, born in South Korea, moved to the United States
at the age of four. She developed an interest in golf, following in her
father's footsteps. Although she started golf at the relatively late age
of 13 compared to other players, her skills improved remarkably
within just one or two months of starting, surpassing students who
had been learning for over a year. Recognizing her special talent in
golf, a coach encouraged her to pursue a career as a golfer.
Despite the demanding environment in US middle and high
schools where students
are required to balance

Marina continued to work
tirelessly. She achieved
excellent results and
won championships in
tournaments organized
by the US Youth Golf
Association, solidifying
her path as a professional
golfer.
In her senior year of
high school in 2001, during
the Toyota Tournament,
Marina surprised everyone
by hitting a tee shot from
280 yards on a par-4 hole
that landed on the green.
She went on to putt and,
astonishingly, recorded
an eagle on the hole,
MARINA CHOI eventually winning the BAN KYURI
