hen you visit the venue of an LPGA tournament,
Wyou can find someone carrying various heavy
auxiliary exercise equipment in both hands, moving
alongside the players from early morning. While other
trainers in the LPGA or PGA Tours often come and go
quickly, there’s one person who has been consistently
working with the players for the past four years, iden-
tifying and treating issues with their physical condition.
The protagonist is Lee Yong-hee, a specialized train-
er in the LPGA. She studied Exercise Prescription and
Rehabilitation at Dankook University, pursued addi-
tional studies to obtain a physical therapy license, and
acquired qualifications as a certified massage therapist.
She worked as a trainer at the exercise facilities of Sky 72
Golf Club near Incheon Airport. While working there,
she began to take care of national team and professional
players, which led her to start her career as a specialized
physical therapy trainer.
Working as the personal trainer for Korean golf
champion Kim Seung-hyuk and as the personal trainer
for former Genesis Open champion and national repre-
sentative Jang Seung-bok, Lee started managing players
on the competition field. During this time, she gained
experience in understanding what type of treatments
were needed for players’ physical conditions and what
preparations were necessary. It was during this period
that LPGA professional Kim Se-young asked her to be-
come her personal trainer, leading to Lee’s involvement
in the LPGA.
With Lee’s assistance, Kim Se-young was able to re-
gain her physical fitness and mental routine for com-
petitions, ultimately clinching the victory cup at the
KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, a major tour-
nament hosted by the PGA, and the CME Group Tour
Championship, the final event of the LPGA season. Lee
